A personal effort by RV Anveshana CEO Ravikirana Byadarahalli to carry familiar Kannada type into the Unicode future, and build a foundation for many languages.
01 · The reason
Our Kannada should not fall behind.
I am Ravikirana Byadarahalli, founder and CEO of RV Anveshana. My love for Kannada made one problem impossible to ignore: valuable text and familiar type designs were still trapped in legacy ASCII mappings that modern systems could not understand.
I spent significant time converting and testing these Kannada font mappings for Unicode compliance. The goal is practical: let Kannada words remain searchable, portable, editable, and useful long after a particular computer or publishing tool is gone.
02 · The work
Preserve the visual voice. Repair the digital foundation.
Legacy Nudi fonts often draw Kannada shapes over ASCII character positions. The page may look correct, but the stored data is not Kannada. Changing the font, searching the document, or moving the text to a phone can reveal unreadable symbols.
This project provides Unicode-compliant versions, direct TTF and WOFF2 downloads, CDN-ready web paths, live previews, and a bidirectional Nudi ASCII ↔ Unicode converter. Conversion and hosting do not claim ownership of original typeface designs; applicable font rights remain with their respective holders.
03 · RV Anveshana
From Kannada roots to a global language platform.
RV Anveshana is an independent software and product engineering company founded in Karnataka. Ravikirana’s experience spans hardware and IoT communication, power and automotive systems, web and desktop applications, AI, automation, and DevOps.
“Anveshana” means exploration or discovery. Lipi began with Kannada love, but its architecture is designed to welcome other writing systems, font libraries, and conversion tools. The goal is a useful global home for languages without losing the local care that started it.
